Christa has a new book out that she co-wrote with Angela Walters, “The Ultimate Guide to Machine Quilting Long-arm and Sit-down” and is teaching at QuiltCon 2017.

Sue Reich, author “Quilts Presidential and Patriotic”

Presidential Quilts Presidential and Patriotic, Sue Reich, Schiffer Publishing, patriotic quiltsSue Reich is a quilt historian, collector and author. Her latest book and accompanying quilt exhibit examines patriotic and presidential quilts throughout our county’s history and how they made a statement about the political and social times of the day.

One of the best parts of the interview was when Reich explained that until women received the right to vote, they didn’t have a voice in the public forum. Quilt-making was how they expressed their opinions on the matters of the day.

Ann Rehbein, Quilts of Valor FoundationIt wouldn’t be a Fourth of July episode without talking to Quilts of Valor. I caught up with Ann Rehbein, the executive director of Quilts of Valor Foundation.

Since the organization was created in 2003, more than 140,000 quilts have been awarded to veterans to thank and honor them for their service. Many of those quilts have been given in the last few years as the organization grows rapidly.
